Amazing Resort in Phillipines

1. Ariara Island, Palawan: Barefoot Bliss

Home to awe-inspiring limestone cliffs, thriving coral reefs, and majestic views (think the ending scene in The Bourne Legacy), Palawan also boasts hundreds of undiscovered islands, and among them, Ariara in the Calamian Archipelago. Seeing its paradise potential, British couple Charles and Carrie McCullough created an ultra-exclusive private island retreat, with eight contemporary yet eco-conscious cottages, suites, and villas (try the Jungle Villa built on stilts!) that can accommodate only up to 18 guests at a time.

Cited as one of Condé Nast Traveller’s “Destinations to watch in 2013,” Ariara is equivalent to renting your own private island for the week. Guests have exclusive use of the 125-acre island and watersports equipment, and you can set your own agenda aided by an intuitive, discreet 30-strong staff, including PADI Dive instructors and a private chef to whip up a bespoke menu served by the beach.

Put the world on hold as you dive, kayak, get a massage, lie in a hammock, or enjoy a midnight flick in the lodge’s cinema. Better yet, take the Karen-Joy, Ariara’s 100ft-tri-maran, and go island-hopping to discover abandoned 17th century Spanish forts, explore hidden lagoons, and gape at the limestone rock formations in Bacuit Bay.

 2. Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort & Spa: Sanctuary on the Party Isle

Named as Travel + Leisure’s top island destination in 2012, Boracay has earned a reputation not just for its powder-fine white sand and Evian-esque sparkling waters, but also its lively atmosphere thick with bikini-clad beauties and muscled hunks bumping and grinding till the wee hours of the morning.

Ensconced in a lush, eco-reserve on the far side of the island with its own private beach and jetty, Shangri-La Boracay offers the best of both worlds—a tranquil sanctuary in tropical paradise when you want to just kick back and relax, or quick access (15 minutes via tricycle) to the famed White Beach when you want to party.

The sprawling premiere resort boasts 219 elegant guest rooms and suites, but if you stay at “The Shang,” might as well spring for one of the unique treehouses or jaw-droppingly luxurious villas (private pools, outdoor jacuzzis). You’re spoilt for choice with seven dining outlets; don’t miss sunset cocktails with a view at the clifftop Solana bar. Deposit the kiddos at the Adventure Zone or Entertainment Centre while you trek along the nature trails, or sunbathe in glorious peace. For the total Shang experience, book a massage at Chi, The Spa, arguably the country’s most spectacular spa retreat.

3. Eskaya Beach Resort & Spa, Panglao Island, Bohol: Royal Meets Rustic

Located on the southernmost tip of Bohol, nicknamed the “quieter Boracay” (uncommercialized beaches and a friendly—not frenzied—vibe), Eskaya is an all-villa luxury resort featuring distinctly Filipino architecture, and is listed among the Small Luxury Hotels of The World.

With only 15 villas in this cozy resort, the ambiance is personal and romantic, and your personal butler is at the ready to draw your bath, deliver breakfast in bed, or prepare a beachside barbeque under the stars. Honeymooners adore the pool villas (they never need to leave their room!), but more social creatures prefer lounging by gorgeous infinity pool and swim up bar. The private stretch of beach is decent, though it’s no Boracay or Palawan.

With thatched roofs, wooden walls, native accessories, and an open-air shower, Eskaya appeals to those who appreciate rustic charm (but do bring your own mosquito repellent!). Eskaya also features a must-try Handuraw hilltop spa, a PADI shop for dive enthusiasts, sumptuous food, stellar service, and good security, making it a favorite of local high-profile politicians and celebrities looking for a discreet hideaway.
